Shu Nakajima: The Tower

Shu Nakajima represents the Tower arcana in Persona 4.

An intelligent loner, Shu is a middle school student at the top of his class, and he intends to keep it that way. Although he comes across as cold and cynical at first, Shu slowly opens up to you. More than anything, he seeks approval from his mother and his peers. With time, he grows to look up to you as well. Can you help Shu learn to handle academic and parental pressures, and become a happier kid?

Tips

• To begin Shu’s social link, you’ll need to reach level 5 Understanding first. This can be sped up by working the Daycare Worker job among other methods. When you’ve maxed out your Understanding, look for the tutoring job on the job board, and accept it. The earliest you can see it become available is May 25.
• You can meet Shu through the tutoring job on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but not on rainy days. 
• Bring a Tower persona when you tutor Shu to level his social link faster. Note that all Tower personas can only be obtained through fusing others, meaning that you can’t get them from farming enemies.

• When Shu says, “If I think you’re inadequate, I’ll have you replaced immediately. Remember that.”, respond with any answer.
• You feel confident that you should teach him:
  • Math (Expression & Knowledge increase)
  • English (Expression & Knowledge increase)
  • PE (Diligence, Expression & Knowledge increase)

• When Shu asks, “…if I get into a good college… am I really “set”?”, give him any answer.
• When he asks, “…do you know what that means?”, tell him “Sure I do.” for +2 friendship.
• When Shu says, “Huh… time’s already up. We were still in the middle of that last question…”, offer to stay and help if you have level 5 diligence. This gives you +2 friendship.

Rank 3

• When Shu asks, “What do you think of your school?”, say “It’s boring.” for +3 friendship.
• When he says, “……”, respond with “Well, it is the countryside.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 4

• When Shu says, “They don’t get what it means to learn at all.”, say “That’s just how it is.” for +2 friendship.
• When he says, “That place…”, tell him “You’re not the only one.” for +2 friendship and a Courage increase.

Rank 5

• When Shu asks, “Is there any bullying at your school?”, say “No, there isn’t.” for +2 friendship.
• When he says, “Maybe that’s not the same thing as bullying.”, tell him to “Put some effort into it.” for +3 friendship.
• Shu will say “It seems that I’ve been talking to you about things that aren’t relevant to my studies….” Say that “I don’t mind.” for +2 friendship and an increase in your Understanding.

• When Shu sighs, give him either answer.
• When he says, “…They’re all stupid.”, choose either answer.
• When he asks, “Um… you only come here because you’re being paid to, right?”, respond “That’s not it.” for +3 friendship.

• When Shu says, “I wish I was a genius.”, pick any answer.
• When Shu says, “Let’s change the subject to something else. What’s up?”, you have two options.
  • “What I like in a girl is…” +3 friendship, and Courage increase
  • “About these murders…” +2 friendship, and Expression increase

• When Shu asks, “Is it possible for anyone to be all those things? Do you know anyone like that?, answer with “This guy.” for +3 friendship.
• When he says, “…Every time I have that dream, the person gets one car closer to me.”, respond with any choice.
• When “Shu suddenly looks tormented.”, “Cheer him up.” for +3 friendship.
• Before getting to rank 9, you’ll have to come tutor Shu for one additional scene that doesn’t raise the rank.

• For all prompts during this conversation, you can pick any answer since all options give equal points.

• Shu will say, “Thank you for recognizing… “me”. I wouldn’t have been able to talk to mom if you hadn’t.” Answer with “No, it’s all you.” for +3 friendship.
• Maxing out Shu’s social link will give you the Test Results item, allowing you to fuse Shiva.
