Nanako Dojima: Justice

Your adorable little cousin Nanako represents the Justice arcana in Persona 4.

Nanako is only 6 years old at the start of the game, turning 7 on October 4th. However, she is surprisingly (some would say unfortunately) good at taking care of herself and the household chores. Nanako’s mother died in an accident when she was younger, leaving your uncle Dojima unsure of how to raise his daughter. Since Dojima’s very busy with work most of the time, Nanako doesn’t get to spend much time with him, so she’s quite lonely. Take her out on a shopping trip to Junes, or build a garden with her, and you’ll bond with her enough for her to call you “Big Bro”.

Tips

  • Nanako is available on most nights when Dojima isn’t home. Her social link automatically starts on May 3rd, so you can begin ranking it up relatively quickly.
  • Raise your expression stat to get better dialogue options with Nanako. You’ll need level 3 expression to progress to rank 4, and max expression to progress to rank 6, so you’ll want to build it ASAP. Understanding is also a helpful stat to build for this social link, but not as important as expression.
  • Make sure you get to rank 10 before October 31st; after that date, things get busy and you will be unable to rank up further, so use the summer to your advantage and get plenty of family bonding time.
  • Bring a Justice persona with you when you hang out with Nanako to build friendship faster. Gardening and planting seeds will also give points for Nanako’s social link, and you’ll get even more if you garden while having a Justice persona.

Rank 2

  • When Nanako is fidgeting, say “Go ahead and ask.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she asks, “Are you an only child?” say “That’s right.” or choose “Nope.” and then “I have you.” for +3 friendship points.

Rank 3

  • When Nanako says “Dad’ll be disappointed.”, answer with “Let’s go buy them together.” for +3 friendship.
  • When Nanako looks sad, say “It’s not Nanako’s fault.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 4

  • You’ll need level 3 expression to answer the difficult questions Nanako will ask in this conversation.
  • When Nanako is nodding her head cheerfully, ask “Is there anything else?” for +3 friendship.
  • When she asks, “What happens to a person when they die?”, say “They go to heaven.” for +3 friendship.
  • When Nanako says “Why do bad people do bad things?”, tell her you don’t know to get +2 friendship.
  • When Nanako asks, “Are bad people more important to dad than I am?”, say “He’s protecting you.” for +2 friendship.

Rank 5

  • When Nanako asks “What do they mean by “real”?”, tell her “A person you love a lot.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she asks, “Daddy doesn’t come home because I’m not his ‘real’ daughter?”, ask her “Did he say that?” for +3 friendship.
  • When it says “What should you do?”, if you have level 3 understanding, you can choose to listen to her talk for +3 friendship. Otherwise, choose to talk with her for +2.

Rank 6

  • You’ll need max expression to approach Nanako for this conversation.
  • When Nanako looks like she’s about to cry, tell her to “Swear to it.” for +2 friendship.
  • When she says, “He can’t come, huh?”, tell her “I’ll ask him with you.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 7

  • When Dojima asks, “What’s gotten into her…?”, respond with “Let’s go look for her.” to get +2 friendship points for Dojima.
  • When Dojima says “She’ll listen to you.”, any response will get equal points.
  • When Nanako says “Big bro…”, tell her “Let’s go home.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she asks, “Is he going to throw me away, too…?”, choose any answer.

Rank 8

  • When Nanako says, “What should I do…? The teacher will yell at me.”, tell her “I’ll help you look for it.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she asks, “Why did dad stop smiling…?”, say “He’s lonely too.” for +3 friendship points.

Rank 9

  • When Nanako says, “Big bro… I love my dad.”, say that “He loves you too.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she says, “…I feel sorry for him, losing someone he loves.”, answer with “He still has you.” for +3 friendship.
  • When it says, “What would you do?” choose to play with Nanako or talk to her for another 3 friendship points.

Rank 10

  • When Nanako asks, “Big bro, can you make me a salad?”, say “Sure thing.” for +3 friendship.
  • When she says, “You’re my family too, so… let’s work hard together!”, tell her “Let’s do it.” for another +3 friendship.
  • Completing Nanako’s social link results in her giving you a Family Photo, which lets you fuse the persona Sraosha.
