Chie Satonaka: The Chariot
Chie is one of your first friends in Persona 4, and she represents the Chariot arcana in the game’s social link system.
Chie is a spunky tomboy who loves grilled steak and kung fu movies, and like her tarot card she never stops moving towards her goals. Nobody knows her better than her best friend Yukiko, and the two are inseparable. However, Chie is secretly jealous of Yukiko being more feminine and attracting the attention of boys, leading to her confrontation with her shadow self in the story. As her friend, you must help Chie get over her inferiority complex and learn to find her own strength (which isn’t only physical) and accept her weaknesses.
Tips
You can hang out with Chie on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, but she won’t be around on rainy days. She’ll be on the school rooftops during the week, but on Sundays and holidays, she sometimes appears in the south end of the Shopping District.
To rank up her friendship faster, bring a Chariot persona with you when you talk to her. Improving your courage stat also allows you access to certain dialogue options that make ranking up with Chie easier. Chie’s social link unlocks its first rank on April 18th, so you have plenty of time over your year in Inaba to get to know her.
Chie is the first of several romance options you can pursue in Persona 4; towards the end of her social link, you’ll get the option to ask her to be your girlfriend, or to keep things platonic. If you cheat on her by pursuing multiple girls, Valentine’s Day won’t be a happy one… so make sure you’re certain before choosing the romance route.

Rank 2

- Chie will learn the Rebellion skill after reaching this rank, which increases your critical rate.
Rank 3
- When Chie says “But me, I totally lose it! Kinda funny, huh?”, you have two choices that grant an equal number (+3) of friendship points. If you have level 3 courage, answer with “It’s cute.”. If you don’t, tell her “It’s very feminine.”.
Rank 4

- When it says, “What should you do?”, choose “Hold Chie’s hand.” if you have level 3 courage or “Crack a joke.” if you don’t. For this choice, both grant equal amounts of friendship, so choose whichever you’d like.

Rank 7
- When Chie says, “Things aren’t looking good…”, answer with either option, as both give the same amount of friendship. However, the first option requires level 4 courage.
- When Chie says, “I charged in by myself… Caused you trouble…”, respond with “It’s not trouble.” for +2 friendship.

Rank 8
- Any options give the same amount of friendship, so pick whichever dialogue sounds the best to you.
- After this conversation, Chie will learn Bufula, a powerful ice spell.
Rank 9
- This is the conversation where you must decide whether you want to date Chie or friendzone her.
- When Chie says, “Things aren’t looking good…”, pick any option.
- When Chie asks “…was that stupid of me?” respond with “You protected that kid.” or “It all turned out okay.” for +3 friendship.
- When it says, “What to do?”, choosing “Will you be my girlfriend?” puts you on the romance path, while “I’m counting on you.” sets you on the friendship route.
Rank 10
This rank will be different based on whether you romanced Chie or stayed friends.
If Chie is your girlfriend:
- When Chie says, “Oh w-well, how did the room you had back home look?”, answer with “It was messier.” or “It was about the same.” for +3 friendship.
- When Chie says, “I was thinking… maybe both of us together…”, tell her “That sounds good.” for +3 friendship.
- Choose either option when it says “What should you do?”
- When Chie asks “Wh-what am I saying…?”, pick either option.
If you’re not dating:
- When Chie says “We are always teammates… that’s it!”, answer with “Certainly!”.
For maxing out Chie’s social link, you’ll get the Wristband, a key item that lets you fuse Suzuka Gongen and Futsunushi.
