Ai Ebihara: The Moon

Ai Ebihara represents the Moon arcana in Persona 4.

On the surface, Ai Ebihara seems like the sterotypical rich girl: materialistic, rude, and snobby. However, at her old school, she was bullied for being fat and worked hard to lose weight and become popular. Ai still harbors a lot of insecurity over her appearance. When you stop her from jumping off the school roof, you’ll find out that she’s actually desperate for love.

Depending on which sports club you picked, she’ll have a crush on Kou or Daisuke. Ai will do anything to convince her crush to notice her. This includes pretending to date you to make her guy jealous. Will you help her by faking a relationship, or will you choose to help her find something more genuine?

Tips

• To start Ai’s social link, get to level 4 in the Strength social link. You’ll meet Ai, and after that she’ll show up on the first floor of the Classroom building. To get the rank 1 conversation, you’ll need level 3 courage. Agree to skip school with her when you’re ready.
• Bring a Moon persona with you to level Ai’s social link faster.
• Ai’s social link is the most complicated one in the game. If you make the wrong choice, it will be broken with no chance of repair. There are two routes here.
  • You can choose to pursue a casual relationship with her. Here, she’s your girlfriend for a while but then you break up. You can either stay friends or have a bitter breakup that prevents you from maxing the social link.
  • Or you can stay friends at first. Here, you can choose to date her more seriously or just be friends with her the whole time.

• When Ai says, “Hmm, doesn’t look like they’ve gotten anything new in. I already have all of this…”, tell her “We’ll have to come back.” for +3 friendship.
• When she demands that you “Buy me an iced latte.”, respond with “Buy it yourself.” for +3 friendship.
• When she says, “They should get rid of all the salespeople and put in vending machines. Press a button, and outcome your clothes.”, give her either answer.

Rank 3

• When Ai asks, “What should we do instead?”, say “Let’s just chill.” for +3 friendship.
• When it says, “Ai rejected him without a second thought…”, you have two choices.
  • “Can’t you be nice?” or “You coulda talked to him…” [Social link advances]
  • “That was downright cruel…” [Reverses social link by 1 rank]

Rank 4

• When you see “The conversation is getting more and more vulgar…”, choose to “Stop them.” for +3 friendship and bonus points towards your Strength social link.
• When Ai says, “…….”, ask “Did you hear them?” for +3 friendship.

Rank 5

• Ai will say “Th-thank you for that, last time…” Reply with “You’re welcome.” for +2 friendship.
• When Ai asks, “Do you think maybe I’m his type? O-or do you think he hates… people like me?”, tell her to ”Have a little confidence.” for +3 friendship.
• Ai will say, “All I need you to do is… ask him what’s his type. That’s it.”. You have two options:
  • Agree to talk to Ai’s crush to advance the social link
  • Choosing “Not gonna happen!” reverses the social link by one rank

Rank 6

• When Ai says, “But if I can’t be loved, then what’s the point?!”, give her any answer.
• When she says, “It’s not like I have any other redeeming qualities…”, choose any answer.
• Ai will say, “Haha, just kidding…”. You have two options here:
  • “I’ll be your boyfriend.” [Casual Relationship Route]
  • “……” [Normal Route]
• If you picked “…..” in the previous question, Ai will ask, “Hey… why don’t you and I just go out?”. You can agree to change your mind or confirm your route.
  • “Sounds good.” [Casual Relationship Route]
  • “Are you sure about that?” [Normal Route]

Normal Route:

• When Ai says, “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to keep making you hang out with me…”, tell her “I don’t mind.” for +3 friendship.
• Ai will ask, “I wonder why…?”. You have two options that both give +3 friendship points.
  • “Because we’re friends.”
  • “You have a crush on me.”

Casual Relationship Route:

• Ai will ask, “Hey, why don’t you pick out some clothes for me? What do you think I’d look good in?”. Pick either “Sexy clothes.” or “Cute clothes.” for +3 friendship.
• When Ai asks, “Isn’t that right?”, say “Yep.” for +3 friendship.
• When she asks, “…do you think I’m pretty?”, respond with “Of course you are.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 8

Normal Route:

• Ai will say, “He was just.. A normal, good guy. I guess what I felt was a kind of fleeting thing.”. Tell her it “Happens all the time.” for +3 friendship.

Casual Relationship Route:

• When Ai asks, “Do you love me?”, say “Of course.” to get +3 friendship.
• When she asks, “You need me, right?”, answer “Naturally…” for +3 friendship.

Normal Route:

• When “Things don’t look good… you feel Ai is in danger.”, make sure you “Help her.”
• When Ai asks, “Uh… sorry, was that unnecessary?”, ask her “Are you alright?” for +3 friendship.

Casual Relationship Route:

• Ai will say, “I think we need to… break up.”. Give her any answer you’d like.
• When Ai says, “I’m so worthless…”, tell her “You decide your own worth.” for +3 friendship.
• When she says, “I’m sure you’ll eventually hate me… and then you’ll leave me.”, choose any answer.
• Ai will ask, “Is there any way… that we could just be friends?”. You have two options.
  • “Sure.” gives +3 friendship.
  • “We need time apart.” [This choice breaks the social link, and it can no longer be advanced to rank 10.]

Rank 10

Normal Route:

• When the game asks, “What will you do?”, you have two choices.
  • “Accept it.” (Lovers’ Romantic Relationship Trigger)
  • “Reject her.” (Friendship only)

Casual Relationship Route:

• Ai will say, “Still… I’m not good at being alone. I know it’s a lot to ask, but… will you stay by my side?” Any answer results in a friendship, since you didn’t break the social link if you’ve made it this far.

Maxing out Ai’s social link will give you the Compact item, which lets you fuse Sandalphon, the ultimate Moon persona.
