Ryotaro Dojima: The Hierophant

Your uncle Dojima represents the Hierophant arcana in Persona 4.

Dojima is your mother’s younger brother, and at the beginning of the game, you’re left with him for the year while your parents go to work abroad. He has a 6-year-old daughter, Nanako, and he is struggling to adjust to life as a single parent since his wife Chisato died in an accident. Dojima is a detective for the local police department and spends a lot of time at work, leaving Nanako to look after the house. He wants to connect with his daughter, but his busy schedule and emotional baggage prevent him from being able to bond with her. Can you get Dojima to open up about his issues and spend more time with Nanako?

Tips

• Dojima is available on most nights when he comes home, which usually happens more often when you finish dungeons early. However, when Dojima comes home Nanako isn’t available, so plan accordingly to be able to befriend them both.
• Dojima’s social link starts on May 6th, but to reach rank 2, you’ll need level 2 expression. To get to the end, you’ll need level 4 expression by rank 5, so build it ASAP by attending your cultural extracurricular, doing the Translator job, and reading certain books like English Made Easy.
• Gardening has a random chance to grant points towards this social link. Also, bring a Hierophant persona with you when you talk to Dojima to gain friendship quicker.

Rank 2

• When Dojima asks, “So… what have you been doing after school?”, tell him you’re working for +3 friendship.
• When he says, “But it’s not as if we have much in common… except for the murders.” have him “Tell me about yourself.” for +3 friendship.
• When Dojima says, “You’re more like a very young brother to me than a son.” ask if he “Should I call you big bro?” to get +3 friendship points.

Rank 3

• When Dojima asks, “When is always, huh…?”, choose any answer.
• When he says, “Plus… I’m not fit to be her family.”, respond with “Fit or not, you’re family.” for +3 to his social link.

Rank 4

• Dojima will offer you coffee. “All we’ve got is instant, though. How do you take it?” Give any answer you’d like.
• When Dojima says “Go watch TV with Nanako. I’ll bring it to you when it’s ready.”, tell him “You don’t have to do that.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 5

• When Dojima says “Oh… sorry, I wasn’t talking about you.”, ask if you can help for +3 friendship.
• When he says “It’s late. Go to sleep.”, ask “Are you okay?” for +3 to Dojima’s social link.

Rank 6

• When Dojima says “Let’s stop there.”, turn it around on him by saying “Then let’s go outside.” for +3 friendship.
• When he says “I don’t need a private life to do that. …Nanako will understand.”, choose any answer.

Rank 7

• When Dojima says “I can do that any time.”, say “This is more important, huh?” for +2 friendship.

Rank 8

• When Dojima says “Sorry, but my hands are full here.”, ask if he wants some coffee for +3 friendship.
• When he asks, “Do you understand why?”, there are two ways you can answer depending on your courage stat. If you have level 5 courage, say “Because you’re a coward.” for +3 friendship. If you don’t, choose “Because of Nanako.” for +2.

• When Dojima says “Er… Sorry about making you go along with this today.” say “It was fun.” for +3 friendship.
• When he says, “That’s why I used revenge as an excuse to spend time away from her…”, ask “You’ve stopped running?” for +3 to his social link.

Rank 10

• When Dojima says “This is your personal mug. Write your name on it later.”, thank him for +3 friendship.
• When he tells you to “Take care of Nanako.”, say “Leave it to me.” for +3 friendship.
• Completing Ryotaro Dojima’s social link will unlock the Coffee Mug item, which lets you fuse the persona Kohryu.
