Tohru Adachi: The Jester

Tohru Adachi is the representative for the special Jester arcana in Persona 4 Golden.

Adachi is Dojima’s bumbling assistant, but he’s quite crucial to befriend if you want to solve the case. Although he seems silly, he possesses behind-the-scenes information. He also has a tendency to accidentally spill certain secrets about the investigation.

Adachi seems unsatisfied with country life and doesn’t care for all the paperwork he has to do as Dojima’s lackey. The expectations of society weigh heavily on his mind, as do his secrets. As another person who comes from the city, perhaps you could be a kindred spirit to him? Befriend him and find the truth!

Adachi’s Schedule

Adachi’s social link is rather unusual. Instead of being available on certain days of the week, he’s only around on certain days. During the day you can find him in Junes, while at night he’s by the Shopping District gas station. Hang out with Adachi for the first time at Junes, and you’ll unlock the first rank.

Rank 2 – Daytime

• When Adachi says, “I live alone, so taking care of dinner can be pretty tedious.”, reply with any option.
• When it says, “Adachi doesn’t seem to lead a nutritionally balanced life…”, pick any option.
• When he says, “And she’ll talk your ear off if you let her… it’s so annoying.”, say “That does sound annoying.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 3 – Nighttime

• Adachi will say, “Oh, uh, sorry for using you like that. You were a big help.”. Ask him “Why don’t you come over for real?” to get +2 friendship.
• When Adachi asks, “But Dojima-san’s still at work, right? Does that mean it’ll be just us? Isn’t that weird?”, tell him, “I’m a good cook.” for +3 friendship.
• Adachi will say, “When I was in high school, I never gave cooking a single thought.”. Give him any answer.
• When he says, “But that works out when you’re a student.”, pick any answer.

Rank 4 – Nighttime

• When Adachi says, “I bet Dojima-san tells you all the time what a great help you are!”, reply “Nope.” for +2 friendship.
• When Nanako says, “Wow! You’re the best, Adachi-san!”, say, “That was a surprise.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 5 – Nighttime

• When Adachi says, “Don’t worry about that. We have to be efficient here.”, answer “You’re right.” for +3 friendship.
• When he asks, “What about you? Don’t you have anything you want me to draw a flower on?”, pick any response.
• When he says, “Eeesh. That’s certainly going to put a damper on her choices.”, choose either response.

Rank 6 – Daytime

• Adachi will say, “But I guess that’s what it’s like for a high schooler. Enjoy it while you can.”. Pick any answer.
• When he says, “But as long as he’s here, I don’t have to talk to her, so that’s a relief.”, give him any answer.

Rank 7, 8, 9, and 10

As long as you finish rank 6 by November 1st, you’ll unlock the second part of Adachi’s social link. Every conversation in this portion will let you rank up automatically, although there are differences based on your choices in the main storyline that lead to each ending.

You will make an important decision on December 5th that decides your game’s ending. Between ranks 8 and 9, there’s a conversation you’ll need to do on December 7th. Agree to speak with Adachi alone here to unlock ranks 9 and 10.

For completing Adachi’s social link in the True ending, you’ll get a special cameo from Adachi in the game’s final boss battle.
