Daisuke Nagase: Strength

Daisuke Nagase is one of two possible representatives of the Strength arcana in Persona 4, with the other being Kou Ichijo.

Daisuke is the popular star of the school’s soccer team, and the reliable best friend of Kou. However, even the most popular people have their insecurities, and Daisuke is not an exception.

Daisuke seems calm and confident on the outside, but he is internally hurting from his breakup with his ex-girlfriend. This has caused him to be hostile and dismissive towards girls. It has also damaged his confidence and made him afraid of trying his hardest at things. He doesn’t want to fail again knowing he gave 100% effort. In his social link, you’ll help Daisuke get over his breakup and rebuild his faith in himself.

Tips

• To choose Daisuke as your Strength social link partner, join the school’s soccer team on April 19. Go to the gym in Practice Building 1F after talking to your teacher, and you’ll be given the option to choose your extracurricular.
• Daisuke will be available to hang out on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. However, he’s not available on rainy days. Also, the soccer team won’t hold practice the week before an exam.
• For extra points towards your social link, bring a Strength persona when you hang out with Daisuke.

Strength Social Link Missable Books

The strength social link allows you to get several books that count towards the compulsive reader achievement. However, they need you to be at certain social link ranks on certain dates. For Daisuke, the requirements to get these books are much easier than Kou’s. Don’t reach rank 10 before 5/29, 7/15, or 8/10. You’ll get calls from Daisuke on those dates. Agree to come with him, and you’ll get The Witch Detective on 5/29, Poly-land on 7/15, and the O-Cha Way on 8/10.

• Daisuke will say, “Hey. Tear down the goals and clean up before you leave, alright?”. Reply with “Got it.” to raise your Understanding stat.
• When he says, “Still, it went pretty fast with three people.”, say “Thanks for the help.” for +2 friendship.

• When Daisuke asks, “Whatever… girls are a pain in the ass, right?”, tell him “Right on.” for +2 friendship.

• When “Kou is also beaming like it’s all thanks to him…”, tell the guys, “I’m just getting warmed up.” for +3 friendship.

Rank 6

• Kou will say, “I have to do some family stuff today, though. Would next time be okay?”. You can tell him “Anything for you guys.” if you have level 4 Understanding to get +3 friendship. If you don’t have level 4 Understanding yet, tell Kou “No problem.” for +2 friendship.

Rank 7

• When Daisuke says, “I have to do the class record today, so don’t wait up for me.”, you can pick either answer.
• Kou will say, “Tell you what, we’ll talk over mapo rice. My treat!”. Answer “Sounds good.” to earn +3 friendship.
• When Kou asks, “You think it could be related…?”, say “Could be.” for +3 friendship.
• When he asks, “What do you think?”, choose “We’ve got a problem.” to get +3 friendship.
• “Kou is looking at you expectantly…”. Say “Count me in.” for +3 friendship.

• When, “The quarrel starts to escalate…”, “Stop them.” for +3 friendship.
• When Daisuke says, “You got that?! It’s my life! You guys have nothing to do with it.”, give them either answer.
• When Kou says, “You can be pretty sincere when you want to, Daisuke.”, reply “That’s his charm.” for +3 friendship.

• When Daisuke says, “I wonder if she’s as stuck in the past as I am…”, answer with “Could be.” or “I don’t know.” for +3 friendship.

All choices for this conversation give an equal number of points. For maxing out Daisuke’s social link, you’ll get the Spike Brush. This can be used to fuse Zanou-Gongen, the ultimate Strength persona.
