Lynette’s planned tea time may have to wait…

Lynette: The Purrfect Magician’s Assistant

Genshin Impact has dozens of characters in five different nations, and with time and a lot of questing, you can befriend them all. Some characters have Hangout Events, which are like a choose-your-own-adventure game with multiple endings. This guide will help you complete Lynette’s Hangout Event and get all five possible endings. To unlock this hangout, first complete the Fontaine Archon quests and Furina’s story quest and get to Adventure Rank 40. You’ll also need two story keys. Essential dialogue options are marked in orange.

Lynette is the twin sister of Lyney and the older sister of Freminet. As children, she and Lyney lived on the streets of Fontaine, and they learned magic tricks from a friendly magician named Cesar, until Cesar passed away tragically while performing a stunt. Sometime later, the twins were adopted by a man who’d been watching their magic shows, but he was not the father they were hoping for. He sold Lynette to a horrible man who liked her tail and ears, and that night their adoptive father drugged her and stuffed her into a carriage.

Thankfully, before Lynette could come to any harm, a mysterious assassin came to the rescue, killing the man who had bought her. She rescued the other girls in the man’s basement and then made Lynette an offer: Join the House of the Hearth, and no one will ever betray you again. From then on, Arlecchino became her new “father.”

Lynette is the magician’s assistant because she likes it that way. Being in the spotlight tires her, and she prefers to work from the shadows, letting Lyney do most of the talking. Since her past was pretty traumatic, it can take her a while to warm up to new people, and the only ones she really trusts are her siblings and Arlecchino. She does not show much emotion or facial expressions when she speaks, and she tends to go into different “modes,” like energy-saving mode for when she has had enough social interaction for the day.

Lynette is Lyney’s biological twin; she has cat ears and a tail from a recessive genetic mutation, and she does not like people making a big deal of it. Lynette also has a strange tendency to break machines and enjoys brewing tea as a hobby.

Today, it is time to meet up with Lynette at Hotel Debord. What’s she up to, and who is the cute cat with her? Find out in this Hangout Event!

“If you explain a magic trick, then the allure of the performance is lost. Personal relationships are the same. If you want to understand me, why not learn a bit at a time, and gradually piece together a complete picture?”

-Lynette

How the Fateometer Works

For this hangout, a new mechanic is being introduced: the fateometer. You draw a card with a number on it. If the number is higher than the number you are checking it against, you will pass the check. If the number is lower, you will fail, and this can affect what happens during the hangout.

Sometimes certain characters helping you or your previous choices will add to your number. If you don’t get the result you want, you can reload that particular quest and try again.

There will also be passive checks that happen automatically in the background.

Ending 1: A Roaring Success!

Let’s start with the first ending.

  • “The lead role!?”

A Decision

  • “You should leave the razzle-dazzling to Lyney…”
  • When it’s time to make a decision, Lynette will give you the option to try the fateometer. Tell her what to do, or take the option of doing neither task.
  • Pick either “I think you should head back to the drinks reception” or try the fateometer and score below a 5.
  • “Sure. Then you’ll have at least one friend there.”

  • [Insight] (Observe Lynette to see how she’s doing…) Draw over a 10 to pass.
  • “It’s a big adjustment. Give it some time.”
  • Take Lynette up to the second floor to recharge. Get some tips from Furina.
  • Go back to the first floor to look at the group photo.
  • “Could it have something to do with the original script Furina mentioned?”
  • (Examine the letter to see if there is anything amiss…)
  • “If everyone is happy with Lynette’s performance…”
  • “We found it in the envelope containing the group photo.”

  • Investigate official script. [Investigation] (Read carefully…) Draw a card. You will need 12 to pass. Lynette’s search mode gives you an extra 5 points.
  • Investigation notes. [Investigation] (Look for mentions of Merieux.) Draw at least a 15 to pass. Lynette’s search mode gives you an extra 5 points.

  • “…It would destroy the reputations of Maloney’s ‘friends.’”
  • “No wonder Merieux will say anything to try and keep Lynette on board.”
  • [Contemplation] (Is there any other way?) You will need at least 15 to pass, with each of the five investigations from earlier giving an extra 3 points if you passed their checks.
  • “Whether the plan succeeds…”
  • [Contemplation] (Could the letter be from one of Gillian’s fans?) You will need 10 to pass.
  • “It was too much for her to take…”
  • “No wonder she’s so hostile towards you…”
  • Wait until two days later, between 16:00 and 18:00.

Performance

  • Go to the Opera Epiclese and watch the first two acts of the play.
  • “But right now, there’s a whole audience out there…”
  • “Were the critics wrong?”
  • “Look who finally decided to show up.”
  • (Ah… so it was Merieux.)
  • “It’s clear as day that Gillian is an outstanding actress.”
  • “But then… Lynette actually accepted your invitation.”
  • “Whether you did it because of pressure from your investors…”
  • “Will you keep pursuing a kind of “success” that you don’t even value…”
  • [Persuasion] “Today’s the day! It’s time to live your dreams!” Draw at least 25, but you have help from the others for 24 points, so you only need 1 point.
  • “Lyney is putting his experience at fooling people to work…”
  • (His worst fear is coming true…)
  • “But based on their reaction today, I think that what most people want to see…”
  • “Some reviews have said that Lynette gave the performance of the year.”
  • “But what about you, Mr. Corentin?”

That’s All, Folks

  • Talk to Director Merieux.
  • “At least you came to your senses just in time.”
  • [Performance] “What’s she talking about? Never heard of it.” You must draw at least a 6 and Lynette gives you 5 extra points, so you will always pass this check.
  • “Stop giving her ideas!”

Ending 2: A Seat in the Audience

Here’s the route for the second ending.

A Chance Meeting

  • Go to the area near Hotel Debord.
  • (Approach stealthily…)
  • “Made you jump? Barely. I didn’t notice.”

  • “Hopefully that will make it more bearable?”

A Banquet

  • Enter Hotel Debord.
  • [Insight] (Observe Lynette to see how she’s doing…) Draw over a 10 to pass.
  • “Maybe after a few more interviews, you’ll get used to it?”
  • Go to the second floor to rest after all that socializing. Talk to Furina about the play.
  • Return to the first floor and examine the envelope.
  • “Maybe someone’s jealous of you? You did land a leading role in your first show.”
  • (Think back to what was happening on the first floor while we were taking some time out…)
  • “Then how do you explain this letter?”
  • “Could it be someone involved in the production?”
  • “Do you have a particular suspect in mind?”

A Cloud of Suspicion

  • Go to the Fleuve Cendre.
  • “Can we talk about the original protagonist?”
  • “Lynette received this letter…”
  • “Could it have anything to do with the original script and protagonist?”

Behind the Scenes

  • Go to the tavern.
  • “It’s practically unreadable.”
  • Investigate original script. [Investigation] (Read carefully…) You need 12 to pass, but Lynette gives you an extra 5 points.
  • Investigate manuscript. [Investigation] (Read carefully…) Draw at least a 12 to pass. Lynette’s search mode gives you an extra 5 points.
  • Investigate old drafts. [Investigation] (Skim through…) Get at least a 15 with your and Lynette’s combined points.
  • “…None of their future articles would have any credibility.”
  • “Convincing him to replace the lead actress won’t be easy…”
  • [Contemplation] (Is there any other way?) You will need at least 15 to pass, with each of the five investigations from earlier giving an extra 3 points if you passed their checks.
  • “…Is up to you.”
  • [Contemplation] (Could the letter be from one of Gillian’s fans?) You will need 10 to pass.
  • “She wrote that letter in a fit of anger.”
  • “She must have been the one giving you that evil stare, right?”
  • Wait until two days later, between 16:00 and 18:00.

Performance

  • Go to the Opera Epiclese and watch the first two acts of the play.
  • “And you have no hope of paying them all off.”
  • “Is it because she’s not a good enough actress to play the role?”
  • “Did you bring all your props?”
  • (He’s the one who was looking at Lynette with contempt.)
  • “But fame was the key factor, and that was the one thing she didn’t have.”
  • “And her acting debut was sure to attract attention.”
  • “Or because you were lured in by the money…”
  • “…At the cost of your own artistic integrity?”
  • [Persuasion] “Today’s the day! It’s time to live your dreams!” Draw at least 25, but you have help from the others for 24 points, so you only need 1 point.
  • “You two should definitely keep in touch.”
  • (…Time for act five.)
  • “…Is an excellent piece of theater, and not celebrity cameos.”
  • “Wouldn’t you say Gillian’s was the performance of a lifetime?”
  • “How would you rate this show?”

That’s All, Folks

  • Talk to Director Merieux.
  • “And you’ve got an amazing group of talented people behind you.”
  • (Wait and see how things play out.)
  • “She seems pretty insistent…”

Penalties…?

  • “You’re finally awake…”
  • “You gave her your supporting role in the play, too?”
  • “You don’t feel even a little bit disappointed?”

Ending 3: Adventurers, Investigators, and Cats

Here’s how to get the third ending.

A Chance Meeting

  • Go to the area near Hotel Debord.
  • “What are you up to?”
  • “Is someone out to kidnap you?”
  • “…”

A Decision

  • “Alright, I’ll pick another card for you…”
  • When it’s time to make a decision, Lynette will give you the option to try the fateometer. Tell her what to do, or take the option of doing neither task.
  • Pick either “I think you should help Bonnie…” or try the fateometer and draw a card higher than 5.

The Forgotten Cat

  • Go to the Steambird and talk to Euphrasie.
  • “We wanted to ask about the latest “Tales of Humanity” column…”
  • “Looking forward to it.”
  • Wait until 7:00 to 9:00 the next morning, then go meet Lynette at her house.
  • [Animal Handling] (Let’s see who Bonnie decides to approach…) If you succeed, she’ll hide behind you, and if you fail, she’ll hide behind Lynette.
  • “It seems she quite likes me.”
  • “If I were on the run…”
  • “What’s wrong?”
  • “So that’s what happened…”
  • “Are you trying to help out Lyney with his investigation?”
  • “I also want to know what secrets he’s hiding…”

Lefevere’s Curse

  • Go to the New Fontaine Research Institute, and approach Lyney and Chevreuse.
  • “I know you want to protect your little sister…”
  • “Hmm, maybe we’ll have to take our investigation elsewhere then…”
  • Either pick “Lynette could give it a try” or try the fateometer with [Animal Handling] “I can give it a go… Meow… Meow meow…” To pass the fateometer check, get a number higher than 12, and watch Chevreuse take the weirdest witness statement of her life.

Pierre’s Lost Base

  • Go check out the suspicious location, near the Echoes of the Deep Tides domain.
  • Follow Bonnie, then defeat the Gardemeks that appear. When you finish, approach the base.
  • Investigate the three clues near Chevreuse, Lyney, and Lynette.
  • “So he must have used something…”
  • “Barrels that could float away and get lost at sea…”
  • Look for clues underwater, carefully avoiding the pink stingray bosses. Investigate the sunken boat, then go towards the open water and you should succeed a perception check when you get close to the clue. It’ll be a small rock behind some big rocks.
  • Return to shore and talk to your friends.
  • “Why use such a convoluted drop-off method, though?”
  • “Well even if we can’t find any travel logs…”

Harbored Secrets

  • Go to Lumidouce Harbor.
  • “Could be because we just left the place where the Imitation Sinthe was made…”
  • “He was using the animals at his shelter…”
  • “Pierre must have fled in a hurry…”
  • “And if any of the Imitation Sinthe leaked out…”
  • Go to the Humane Society, then pursue Bernard when he starts running away.

Falling Into Layers of Fog

  • After the conversation, it is time to attempt to close the case. First talk to Lynette and play a contemplation minigame.
  • “About what we found in Poisson…” – interpret “The end of Lefevere” and associate it with “The pet handoff.” Then interpret and submit “Initial suspicions.”
  • “About Bernard’s letters…” – interpret “The lost cat Bonnie” and then interpret “The letter’s purpose” and submit that as your conclusion.
  • “There’s an unexplained part in the operations of this trafficking ring…” – interpret “Ingredients” and submit it as your conclusion.
  • “The “truth” behind this “testimony” is…” – interpret “Bernard’s conflicting statement” to get “The accomplice that was never met.” Interpret “Pierre’s conflicting behavior” to get “Does Pierre have multiple personalities?” Interpret both of these resulting statements, and then associate them together. Submit “There’s still a third person out there” as your conclusion.
  • Now talk to Elodie.
  • [Contemplation] (They’re about to leave. Is it really okay to let them go?)
  • With all the clues from Lynette’s minigame, you should have enough points to automatically pass this card draw. You need at least 20 points and you should have 20 already.

The Truth Beyond the Truth

  • “Bernard thought he was communicating with Pierre…”
  • “But for all this time, neither of them knew…”
  • “Any animals Pierre received from the floating barrels should have been taken directly to his base.”
  • “Honestly, this third person probably planned to sell both of them out from the very beginning.”
  • “They then ambushed Pierre…”
  • “Bernard would then testify that Pierre was the one who came up with the whole plot.”
  • “It became even harder to control the outcome of the investigation.”
  • “Bonnie managed to escape in the chaos.”
  • “But Bonnie was very lucky.”
  • “You knew Lyney was investigating the case with Chevreuse…”
  • “Once Bernard had placed the animals in the barrels…”
  • “First you got in touch with both parties, and secured the raw materials.”
  • “After that, you slipped the raw materials into the barrels next to the animals…”
  • “But do you have any evidence?”
  • “An example of such a place may be… somewhere in your own boat.”
  • “Chevreuse! Lyney!”
  • “No one asked about your past.”
  • You’re going to have to stop Elodie with the bomb. You can choose to help Lyney deceive Elodie, convince her to surrender, help Chevreuse intimidate her into giving up, or launch a sneak attack on her while she’s distracted. Helping Lyney deceive her gives a boost of 8 when you need 15, making it the best option. If you fail any of these, you will have to fight some Gardemeks.
  • “As if she had no choice but to kill to escape her life.”
  • “You mean… when you said I could stop by your place?

Robogirl’s Rest and Relaxation

  • If you like, talk to Chevreuse and Lyney before going to recharge with Lynette.
  • “A cute kitty, please.”
  • “About Elodie’s case…”
  • “The tea party.”
  • “With quality time, you should be able to recharge more quickly.”
  • “When did you start to suspect Elodie?”
  • “Back then, Elodie tried to get close to Bonnie…”
  • For completing this hangout route, you will earn the “Decks and Detectives” achievement.

Ending 4: Save the Kitty!

Follow this route to get the fourth ending.

A Chance Meeting

  • Go to the area near Hotel Debord.
  • (Approach stealthily…)
  • “Is someone out to kidnap you?”
  • “…”

A Decision

  • “Alright, I’ll pick another card for you…”
  • When it’s time to make a decision, Lynette will give you the option to try the fateometer. Tell her what to do, or take the option of doing neither task.
  • Pick either “I think you should help Bonnie…” or try the fateometer and draw a card higher than 5.

The Forgotten Cat

  • Go to the Steambird and talk to Euphrasie.
  • “Any commissions in there about a missing cat?”
  • “I’ll be there!”
  • Wait until 7:00 to 9:00 the next morning, then visit Lynette at her house.
  • [Animal Handling] (Let’s see who Bonnie decides to approach…) If you succeed, she’ll hide behind you, and if you fail, she’ll hide behind Lynette.
  • “This is no way to tell who her owner is…”
  • “I don’t think I’d come back either…”
  • “You don’t look so good…”
  • “Then the assassin Elodie mentioned…”
  • “Or are you trying to prove yourself?”
  • “Sometimes, you’ve just got to take the bull by the horns, right?”

Lefevere’s Curse

  • Go to the New Fontaine Research Institute. Talk to Lyney and Chevreuse.
  • “But little sisters don’t stay little forever.”
  • “Did you find anything useful at his residence?”
  • Either pick “Lynette could give it a try” or try the fateometer with [Animal Handling] “I can give it a go… Meow… Meow meow…” To pass the fateometer check, get a number higher than 12. Poor Chevreuse now has to take her first-ever witness statement from a cat.

Pierre’s Lost Base

  • Go check out the suspicious location, near the Echoes of the Deep Tides domain.
  • Follow Bonnie, then defeat the Gardemeks that appear. Once this is done, approach the base.
  • Investigate the three clues near Chevreuse, Lyney, and Lynette.
  • “…To tightly seal big bags full of air…”
  • “Sounds difficult to keep in one place. Kind of like certain pets…”
  • Look for clues underwater, carefully avoiding the pink stingray bosses. Investigate the sunken boat, then go towards the open water and you should succeed a perception check when you get close to the clue. It’ll be a small rock behind some big rocks.
  • Return to shore and talk to your friends.
  • “Wouldn’t it be easier for both parties to meet up at the transfer point on their respective vessels and exchange the goods right then and there?”
  • “We can still search for other clues.”

Harbored Secrets

  • Go to Lumidouce Harbor.
  • “Whatever Girard smelled on you probably came from us…”
  • “To smuggle Imitation Sinthe…”
  • “That fact is probably what spared Bonnie.”
  • “They also would have needed a lot of cleaning agents to get rid of the resulting smell.”
  • Go to the Humane Society, then hunt Bernard down when he tries to run.

Falling Into Layers of Fog

  • Talk to Elodie first.
  • [Contemplation] (They’re about to leave. Is it really okay to let them go?)
  • Fail the check.
  • “Just leave it to Lyney and the others.”

Ending 5: “Standby Mode”

Finally, here’s how to get the fifth ending.

A Chance Meeting

  • Go to the area near Hotel Debord.
  • “What are you up to?”
  • “Made you jump? Barely. I didn’t notice.”
  • “…”

A Decision

  • “You should leave the razzle-dazzling to Lyney…”
  • When it’s time to make a decision, Lynette will give you the option to try the fateometer. Tell her what to do, or take the option of doing neither task.
  • “How about… you do neither?”
  • “If it was that urgent, someone would have come looking by now.”
  • [Persuasion] Well, Bonnie sure seems to like that idea!
  • Draw a card. If you get above 10, your persuasion check was a success, and you can get this ending! If not, you’ll have to pick another option or replay this part of the hangout and try again.
  • “We can just stick around here for a while…”
  • “Shall we find some cat food?”
  • “Shall we get some snacks for us, too?”
  • “Let’s find a place to chill.”
  • For completing this hangout route, you will receive the “Speedrun” achievement.
